CoolSculpting is a non-invasive treatment for fat deposits. The CoolSculpting treatment delivers intense cold to the targeted fat cells, which causes them to crystallize and die. The dead fat cells are naturally processed and then gradually eliminated from the body. CoolSculpting offers spot removal for fat pockets in areas like the abdomen.
CoolSculpting is often used in the abdominal area, as this is a common area for fat deposits on both women and men. This treatment can also be used in most other areas where fat deposits exist, including the flanks, the thighs, the upper arms, underneath the buttocks, the back, and even the chin.
Most people start to see results within about 3 weeks, with the optimal results occurring at about 2 months post treatment. The body also continues to flush out extra fat cells for a full 4-6 months after treatment.
It varies from one patient to the next. Some people need a single treatment while others will need several treatment sessions to achieve their goals. The Carolina Skin Care team is happy to design a custom treatment plan for each of their patients. To determine whether additional sessions are needed, patients should wait until 2 months have passed after treatment. This allows time for the full results to be seen before deciding to have additional treatments.
Treatment takes around 30-60 minutes and is done on an outpatient basis.
Patients may feel sensations of cold and vacuum suction during the CoolSculpting treatment. The treatment is generally quite well tolerated. Many patients read, listen to music, or even doze lightly during their CoolSculpting treatment.
Recovery is generally fast and easy. Most people return to their work or regular routine as soon as the CoolSculpting treatment is over, in fact. Some discomfort may be experienced after the CoolSculpting treatment, but this can be alleviated with ice packs and over the counter pain relievers in most cases.
